Language Factory - An Infoxchange Australia Social Enterprise
Language Factory, an Infoxchange Australia enterprise, is a community resource that aims to provide affordable and responsive language services to diverse sectors of the community – both government and non- government / community organisations.

This program aims to address the current gaps in language services provided by government and non-government services providers, which has resulted due to a combination of factors (i.e. lack of funds as well as availability of accredited interpreters to members of the emerging communities in Australia).

In order to do this Language Factory is in the process of developing a model of providing community based translation services, that will ensure that both government and non-government agencies are able to access cost-effective, and more importantly, responsive language services.

In summary, the Language Factory represents a model that is able to assist governments and non-government service providers to achieve a more effective and at the same time ‘empowering’ communication strategy, utilising the ‘in house’ skills of residents living in public housing.

Yarra Assist
With the aid of government and philanthropic funding, the program - known as eACE (electronic Atherton Community Enterprise) set out to halt the digital divide in its tracks by 'wiring up' the Atherton Gardens public housing estate in Fitzroy.

Three years on, more than 600 households within the Atherton community have been provided with a computer, intranet access, IT training and low-cost broadband Internet connection. Local residents have been trained and employed to help run the program: as trainers, IT workers, administrators and content developers.

Now Infoxchange Australia has launched the latest phase of the program, designed to ensure its long-term sustainability.

Yarra Assist is new social enterprise providing affordable computer support services to small to medium sized businesses, including health and welfare agencies, within the City of Yarra. It also offers Internet access, voice services and hardware provisioning at affordable prices.

Through generating employment locally and providing a badly needed service for small to medium organisations, Yarra Assist will fund the continuation of the eACE program and future community development work.
